Kerim Miskavi was born in Mersin, in 1989. He completed high school at Robert College in Istanbul and received his professional architecture degree from Rice University. At pioneering international architecture firms, SO-IL, Mitchell Giurgola and Herzog & De Meuron, he served as a designer and project lead for a diverse range of cultural and civic projects that have been exhibited in the Chicago Architecture Biennial, Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum Triennale and published by the New York Times.
He has been recognized by Turkey’s Young Architect Awards and has been awarded First Prize for Izmir University of Economics
Guzelbahce Campus and the Purchasing Award for Erenkoy Mental Health Hospital in national design competitions. His completed projects have been selected for the Turkey’s Architecture Yearbook and World Architecture Festival.
As a firm believer in disciplinary engagement, he teaches undergraduate studio at Kadir Has University Faculty of Architecture, and previously served in juries at Columbia University and Bilgi University.
Derya Tezel completed high school at Uskudar American Academy in Istanbul and earned her professional architecture degree from
Illinois Institute of Technology. At JAHN and Perkins + Will, she worked on globally recognized projects with various scales and
programs including the Chicago O’Hare Airport Renovation, 600 North Fairbanks Residential Tower, Dubai Towers Istanbul and King
Saud University.
Upon her return to Turkey, Derya managed many international and large-scale projects for the country’s leading architecture practice, Tabanlıoğlu Architects, for 9 years. She gained expertise through exposure to key industry leaders during the years she spent leading the construction administration services at Levent 199 for Zorlu Holding.
With Qatar Museums Authority, Lusail and Istanbul New Airport projects, she strengthened her knowledge of universal tender, contract and project management standards of practice and expanded on her collaboration and dialogue with international teams and clients.
Derya is cultivating her 20+ years of professional experience and unique perspective through MAS’ mission of intellectual and innovative architecture.
Betül Ay received her degree in Interior Design in 2010 at Istanbul Technical University (ITU) after studying for a year at University
Hochschule Coburg in Germany. She furthered her graduate studies at ITU and earned her graduate degree in Architecture in 2012.
She was then awarded full scholarship to study in Milan, at Domus Academy’s Master of Interior and Living Design Program, which she completed with high academic distinction in 2013.
After gaining valuable design-build experience at Ekat & Cupal, ArtMim and Kontra, she added to her design expertise at Tabanlıoğlu Architects where she was integral to some of the firm’s most prestigious projects for 5 years.
Balhambar Library & Cafe and Design Miami Collectors’ Lounge are among a long list of projects and design competitions that benefited from Betül’s unique sense for thoughtful and innovative architecture. She led the interior design projects for Izmir Turan and Tersane Istanbul. She added to her international experience with the office’s portfolio of works in the USA and worked on the design competition entry for Haus der Geschichte that brought the firm a second place win.
Betül continues her passion for design while building upon her 15+ years of experience with an exciting new perspective at MAS.
